Title: Golden State of Mind — A Photographer’s Journey

For 13 years, I had wandered the concrete canyons and waterfronts of New York City, chasing light and landscapes, capturing the soul of the city through my lens. But one ordinary evening after work, a quiet call beckoned me—Gantry State Park, Queens. The light promised something special.

Yet, I resisted.

Fatigue weighed me down. The comfort of staying in whispered sweet nothings. I almost gave in. The familiar voice of doubt tried to keep me grounded: “You’re tired. Skip it this time.”

But I’ve been here before. And through years of chasing the horizon, I’ve learned a truth that never fails me—when I push through resistance, beauty almost always waits on the other side.

So I crossed the threshold.

I packed up my gear, boarded the train, and followed the setting sun across the East River. When I arrived, the city was bathed in golden light, as if it had been waiting for me to show up. I set up my shot. I waited. I listened. I pressed the shutter.

And in that moment, I captured what I now call Golden State of Mind—my favorite image in over a decade of shooting NYC.

I returned home not just with a photo, but with a reminder: the treasure is always on the other side of resistance.
