Empire State of Mind – A Photographers Test Of Time

When a fellow creative from Instagram invited me to photograph the Empire State Building from a high-rise rooftop, I couldn’t say no. It felt like a rare calling—one of those New York moments you don’t question.

The day arrived… and so did delays. Rush hour chaos, train disruptions—I watched precious minutes slip away. The city was testing me. I finally boarded a train, anxiety rising with every stop. Would I miss my chance?

As I sprinted through Manhattan’s streets, camera in tow, I feared I’d be too late. But fate was kind. I arrived just behind schedule—only to find others still waiting. Another photographer was also running late. My delay became invisible.

Moments later, we ascended in a freight elevator, emerging onto a private rooftop with the skyline unfolding before us. I set up my gear, the city now calm beneath me. Then I captured this shot—bold, still, and timeless.

This piece, Empire State of Mind, is my tribute to grit, timing, and the quiet rewards found above the noise.
